Degree College to come up in Pahalgam: Govt

Jammu, Jan 12:  MLA Phalgam Altaf Ahmad Kaloo on Friday raised several issues in the lower house of the assembly.

According to GNS correspondent, the legislator Kaloo demanded earlier release of payment for the construction of Dudal Bridge which is a new tourist destination spot, road connectivity from Seer to Nambal and between the Bagwani and Amad Bridge.

He also stressed on the establishment of Degree College at Pahalgam.

In his reply, the minister concerned assured the early release of funds for construction of the roads and bridges in the said areas.

Meanwhile, the education minister Altaf Bukhari while replying to the legislator’s concern regarding the establishment of Degree College in Pahalgam assured that the college will come and that the first session will be started very soon.

Earlier, the minister informed the assembly that the cabinet has recently approved opening of 17 new degree colleges in the state.

The locations for setting up of these newly sanctioned colleges are being worked out by government and priority is being given to uncovered areas keeping in view the availability of land, feasibility of demand with the sufficient number of feeding higher secondary schools in the area. (GNS)
